In today’s hectic time, you may have accumulated hundreds if not thousands of important files over time. Imagine now, if one day you turn on your laptop or PC and find the files of your customers’ or even your vacation photos are no longer accessible. They are gone. You cant retrieve them. All your life’s work is gone for good. How did this happen you ask yourself? Well there are many factors that contribute to the loss or destruction of files.

External environment factors:

•	Lightening,
•	Power surges,
•	Power outages

Often leads to electric fluctuations in electricity causing damage to the hard drive of the PC or laptop. This fluctuation is common in areas where power lines are found above ground that are exposed to the harsh elements such as areas in the US Midwest. Being in the city however does not guarantee constant flowing electricity. Power outages can occur wherever external electricity is provided.

•	Flooding,
•	Tornadoes,
•	Fires,
•	Exposure to sea air

Are other possible causes of file damage.

The internal environments of the office or studio are not free from data destruction;

•	Dry air leads to static charge buildup that upon contact with the hard drive can simply fry the drive.
•	Humidity levels in the building may result in condensation to develop on the computer.
•	Coffee spills, dust, water sprinklers, all can lead to damage.
•	Theft either in the form of Internet hacking or burglary will definitely remove important files.

The key to protect data is of course getting a good backup system. In today’s market the consumer has a vast choice of products each with its own pluses and minuses. Some of the top names include acronis, backupchain, and carbonite.

The computer market is a huge industry right now and it doesn’t look like it’s going to let up anytime soon. A couple of things that you should be considering when buying a new computer are the cost, how easily it will be to upgrade, and the portability. When you look over the price tags of desktops and laptops, the difference is pretty extreme. So what are the key differences between the two? The first one being the cost is a given, but the computer manufactures are putting such an effort into laptop technology that they are offering desktops at a huge discount. The only advantage that a laptop has over a desktop is portability. If you don’t want the option of taking your computer everywhere with you, then you have a great way to cut down the cost of your new investment.

So, in this age of mobile networking, WiFi access and on the go computing, why would anybody want a desktop computer? Why has a desktop computer still not lost its charm? The answer is actually pretty simple. In the long run, they are a better machine. Have you ever tried to replace the hard drive on a laptop? Did you lose some of the screws? Did the casing not fit exactly as it did before? With a desktop, you simply open the tower, pull the hard drive out and replace it. The same goes for upgrading any of your RAM, media drives or PCI cards.

The reason that desktops are so much more reliable is because they are not portable machines. The first laptop I ever had was bruised and battered within the first year because I took it everywhere. No matter how careful you are, there is always a risk of losing your data because you bumped against a wall and knocked the hard drive a little bit. A desktop sits at your house stagnant until somebody needs to use it. With a little anti-virus software, you can be sure that you’ll never be at risk from a stupid mistake.

As mentioned before, the cost of the desktop is a huge deciding factor for a lot of consumers. When you get down to the specifications of the desktop versus a laptop that is five hundred dollars more, you will probably be pleasantly surprised. Typically, desktop computer specs surpass most laptop computers. Desktops are usually sold with bigger hard drives and more memory than laptops and come with better software packages already installed.

Lenovo’s ThinkPad family has the ThinkPad T series, which concentrates on strong performance. Indeed, a laptop must have powerful specifications for it to deliver well.

The Intel Core i5 processor drives the Lenovo ThinkPad T410s. You have two choices: the Intel Core i5-540M 2.53 GHz processor and the Intel Core i5-529M 2.4 GHz processor. Integrated in these processors is the Turbo Boost technology, which accelerates the i5 processors when it is needed. Supporting these powerful processors is a minimum of 6 GB of DDR3 read access memory. A user may load up to a maximum of 8 GB of DDR4 RAM in the Lenovo ThinkPad T410s. Therefore, the RAM/i5 processor combination promises seamless performance even when running heavy applications.

The Lenovo ThinkPad T410s is one compact laptop, with a mere screen size of 14 inches, but is loaded with an amazing storage capability. One can store files with the up to 160 GB of disk space for the solid state drive option and up to 500 GB of space for the hard disk drive option. The 500 GB option promises worry-free storage especially when storing those heavy digital files like HD movies, games, music and very important documents.

A unique feature of the Lenovo ThinkPad T410s is the switchable graphics. A user can alternate between a dedicated video card in Nvidia NVS3100M discrete graphics and an Intel integrated graphics chipset with 512 MB of VRAM. Whenever one needs to edit or render heavy graphics, one may simply switch modes from an ordinary GPU into a boosted one.

It may not be a good idea to play hardcore games on the Lenovo ThinkPad T410s. However, the Nvidia NVS3100m graphics that is embedded into this laptop allows some heavy graphics for video and movie editing and even playing certain games.

SPECS

CPU

Intel Core i5-529M 2.4 GHz processor

Intel Core i5-540M 2.53 GHz processor

RAM

Up to 6 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 (4 GB 1333 MHz + 2 GB 1067 MHz)

Up to 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR4 (4 GB 1333 MHz x 2)

Hard drive

80GB or 128 GB SSD, 160 GB (5400/7200 rpm)

250 GB (5400/7200 rpm) HDD

320 GB (5400/7200 rpm) HDD

500 GB (7200 rpm) HDD

Graphics

Display

LED, 14.1 WXGA+ 1440 x 900 MultiTouch

Dimension

13.1? x 9.4? x 1? – 1.25?

Optical Drive

9.5 mm CD/DVD drive with BluRay option

Battery Life

22 hours on 9-cell battery

Pros:

Lenovo did a good job in conceptualizing the Lenovo ThinkPad T410s. This laptop is very handy (as it is only a 14-incher) and is packed with powerful components that are usually found in larger laptops. Its Intel Core i5 processor is powerful enough to drive the most grueling applications. And it has switchable graphics and a lot of RAM.

Now, it gets high marks for portability. One can use the Lenovo ThinkPad T410s for a maximum of 22 hours if loaded with a nine-cell battery. If one is using a six-cell battery, one can use this laptop for around six hours.

Cons

The Lenovo ThinkPad T410s has insufficient VRAM to support hardcore games. Well, it can’t have everything. After all, Lenovo did not design the ThinkPad T410s as a gaming laptop.

If you’re in the market for buying a desktop computer, you’re in luck. On average, a desktop computer is the smarter buy unless you’re have a great need to take your computer with you everywhere you go. So, why is buying a desktop computer a better buy? That’s easy. Desktop computer’s tend to be more reliable and they are easier to upgrade than a laptop. Not only this, a desktop computer is by far a more cost effective item to buy. Right now, most of the computer technology is being put into laptops. Manufactures are always trying to make a sleeker, more compact computer. This is very appealing to students because they can take their computers to class, to the library or the dining hall if they have a paper or research that needs to be done. Now that leaves the desktop industry at a struggle. How are they supposed to market a machine that isn’t portable? They make it cheaper. It’s not cheaper by quality, it’s just cheaper by price. Many desktops have the same specifications that their laptop colleagues have, just not the portability.

When you’re buying your desktop computer, things you should take into consideration are what you are going to be using it for. If you’re going to use it as a media center to stream video and music all through your house, then you’re going to want a system with a lot of memory and a big hard drive. Upgrading your hard drive isn’t as much of an issue as it used to be because a lot of the desktops come with hard drives that are two to three times bigger than one you would get if you bought a laptop. For instance, my Macbook came with a 100 gig hard drive installed. If I had purchased and iMac, I would have gotten a 350gig hard drive installed.

If you’re primarily looking for a machine that you can do word processing on or use to shoot off a couple of emails to your friends, then a bare-bones system is extremely cheap and still a great machine to have. Diagnose what you are going to use your desktop computer for before you buy. Read reviews, go on discussion forums and determine the best machine for your needs. Always remember that getting a computer that is a little better than what you need is optimal, as the shelf life any computer is about three years.

Information loss is one thing that can be very traumatic. Whether it’s a business with important files and documents, or someone with precious pictures and film recordings, losing data can be a very traumatic and stressful situation. If you’ve never experienced hard drive failure or losing data before, it can indeed be a state of affairs where you find yourself wondering what to do.

In spite of what you happens, you should not stress out or let the position get the best of you. Although computers are great to have and disc drives work very well for storage, they’re both machinery and are bound to fail sooner or later in time. In spite of how sophisticated disk drives get, they will never be able to completely avoid crashes or failure.

In most instances, your data can be recovered, which is invariably good news. When your hard drive first crashes or you recognize that your information is missing, you should right away take it to a local specialist. The specialist will be able to evaluate your hard drive, conclude what the issue is, and then inform you. The evaluation process could take any place from 1 day to two people of weeks, so invariably you should ready for anything.

Once the hard drive has been evaluated, they’ll think again pricing with you and tell you what options you have. At there, you can evaluate if you would like to go with their offer, or how you want to proceed. Take into account that this can be very expensive, although at this point it may very well be the only opportunity you have for getting better your information.

The smartest technique to avoid information recovery altogether, is to make a backup of your files and keep backing them up. Companies and people who do their work with computers should always back things up at least once a day. This way, if your hard drive happens to crash or you lose all of your information, you’ll have the back off files safe and secure. Then, when you take your hard drive to a professional to be recovered, you’ll have the files to continue working. Also, at this stage, you can choose if you would like to have the hard drive recovered, or just scrap it and obtain a one – as you’ll have all the files backed up and ready to use.

In the event of data loss or hard drive failure, invariably you should remain calm and know that the’re options around to assist you recover your data. If you’ve been backing up your information, you will not need to worry near as much. From backing up your data to information recovery specialists – you’ll have the options you need to keep your sanity and recover your lost information.

You can store your computer data in several ways. Information can be stored on removable disks, hard drives, CDs, DVDs, and other types of media. Although there are several ways that you are able to store your information, someday in time the electronic or machine is sure to break down, leading to a loss of data. Even supposing the device may work good foreign sources, it can invariably break up when you least expect it, with no technique to avoid it.

Hard drives are the most commonplace way to store data, although they’re mechanical contraptions and can conk out or crash at any time. When they crash, you’ll typically lose all of your information, which can put you in quite a bind. To be ready and keep yourself protected, you should invariably have a backup plan, like an outside hard drive.
